Our story

Group of adults sat round a table

First we listened to what young people had to say. We were interested in their experiences and we wanted to find out what they thought. Then we wanted to work with them to help them feel part of school or college life and to feel better about themselves.

We helped students and teachers in secondary schools and colleges to work together to try out new ideas. They did their own research projects, led by the young people.

When the research was done, the young people in the ‘What about us?’ schools and colleges and the project researchers worked together to agree the most important messages from the project.

We had meetings to tell each other – and other people – about the ‘What about us?’ project and the work we did.
