Our story

Some young people like to be supported by other young people. They like to have a buddy:

• to show them around
• to tell them what to do or where to go
• to help them with their work.

It can be good to have a buddy and to work as a team. Team work and sharing can get the job done. But we did not meet any buddies at the start of the project.

Some schools and colleges started buddy systems during the project. These buddies helped young people:

• when they were new to the school or college
• when lessons or activities were difficult.

We say:

• Schools and colleges should help young people to help each other.
